RackNerd Review: My Experience After 1 Year Using Their Shared Hosting

This RackNerd review shares my year-long experience with RackNerd’s shared hosting and highlights some surprising benefits that could improve your website as well.

This article is all about RackNerd and my opinion about it after one year of using their Shared 100GB hosting plan..

So let’s get straight to it..

Who Am I?

I am a webmaster and an affiliate marketer with many niche websites under my belt.

One of my websites — a news-oriented website — experienced a traffic increase, and my current host (FASTCOMET) couldn’t handle the traffic — unless I upgraded my account.

I felt like I was being “pushed” to upgrade. Support was always like: We suggest upgrading to a VPS to… yada, yada, yada..

Keep in mind that I was on FastComet EXTRA their top-tier shared hosting plan..

FastComet’s Shared Hosting plans.
FastComet’s Shared Hosting plans.

.. and although it says $4.99 per month ($60 per year), it is just for the first year only.. From the second year afterwards, I was paying $300 per year for shared hosting.

And, I’ve been doing this for the past 5 years..

I knew that I could find better hosting deals outhere.. After all I wrote tens of hosting related guides (for example Best web hosts that accept bitcoinBest Anonymous hostingBest Offshore HostingBest Dedicated Servers, Hosting providers that accept Monero, etc), but, I was too bored to even looking for changing a hosting provider..

But, enough is enough, this is why I decided to start researching..

Anyways, I came across RackNerd and decided to give them a chance because their Shared Hosting 100GB plan offered so much more at one third of the price of what I was paying at FastComet (more on that later).

So, in this RackNerd review, I am going to tell you upfront what I liked and what I didn’t. Next, I will give you details on things like pricing, support, downtime etc.

Keep in mind that my experience with RackNerd is on their SHARED Hosting plans. Although they offer VPS and Dedicated servers, I haven’t tested them yet to have a solid opinion.

What I Like And What I Don’t

Here’s what I Like and What NOT about RackNerd. Let me start with the Cons first.

What I Don’t Like 😔

Even though there’s a lot to appreciate about RackNerd, I’ve also bumped into a few things that could be better. Here’s what I’ve noticed:

  1. Live Support Knowledge: The folks on the live support team are nice and they do get back to you pretty quickly, but they seem to mainly know about simple stuff. If you’ve got a complicated tech problem, it can take a bit more time to get someone who can really help. This can get a bit annoying when you need a solution right away.
  2. Talking with Sales: When I was thinking about moving my website to RackNerd, I tried to get in touch with their sales team by email. I didn’t hear back, which was a bummer. I’d to open a sales ticket to get things moving. It would be a lot better if the sales team was a bit quicker to respond. Once I got the ball rolling on moving my site, everything was handled pretty professionally. But getting started wasn’t so easy because of the communication issues I mentioned.

What I Like 😊

  • Good Pricing — As mentioned above, their Shared hosting plans offer a whole bunch of features at a relatively low price. For example, my Shared 100 GB plan got me, 100 GB SSD Disk Space, free SSLLiteSpeed Web Servers, Daily Backups and Unlimited Websites for just $9.59 per month. Some hosts charge Daily Backups alone of around that price. RackNerd is giving it to your for free.
  • Seamless Transfer — They’ve migrated my website from my previous host for free and everything runed smoothly — without charging me extra either. Plus, minimal downtime.
  • They accepts cryptocurrency — Although I haven’t used crypto to pay for my shared hosting, I kinda sympathize businesses who accept them.
  • Global Datacenter Options — They have datacenters in Europe, Asia and the US. This is important for me because although I am located in Europe, I can host my website on US servers where most my traffic is. Being able to host my site there helps improve its speed and performance for my audience.
  • Crypto Nodes — Yes sir, you can run nodes for various cryptocurrency projects. I haven’t done it yet, but it is something I will do this year. So, having expertise and communication with a hosting provider that allows running nodes as well, its a huuuge plus for me.
  • Boosted Website Speed — RackNerd’s servers have significantly boosted my website’s speed. Both desktop and mobile loading times have increased according to Google’s PageSpeed Insights. Also, my WordPress backend felt like running smoothier than before..
  • Not downtime — In my one year using their shared hosting plan, I haven’t had any downtime or whatsoever, which is something that puts a 😊 in my face.

FastCloud EXTRA vs RackNerd Shared 100 GB

Here’s a comparison table between FastComet’s FastCloud Extra plan and RackNerd’s Shared 100 GB plan.

I basically switched from this plan to the other -that is why I am comparing them — to see what I got from switching over to RackNerd.

Reviews Across The Web

Exploring RackNerd’s reputation, I’ve found mainly good reviews on hosting review websites such as HostAdvice, Trustpilot, and even discussions on Reddit, which I am summarizing below.

HostAdvice

On HostAdvice, there are lots of reviews about RackNerd’s shared hosting services.

Many users, really appreciate the powerful performance and great prices RackNerd offers.

An other user said that scaling services was a breeze with RackNerd. This is a big deal for any business that wants to grow without having to switch hosts.

Now, some reviewers said that they did run into a few hiccups with the user interface. Sometimes it was a bit less user-friendly than they would’ve liked.

But you know what? The super helpful customer support more than made up for it. Any time they had a question or needed help, RackNerd’s support was right there with a swift and useful reply.

Trustpilot

Trustpilot certainly has a lot of good things to say about RackNerd, and I can attest to that as well.

With a TrustScore of 4.5 out of 5, it’s pretty obvious that folks have had a great experience with their web hosting services.

In fact, a whopping 91% of reviewers have given RackNerd a full 5-star rating. That’s not an easy feat to achieve, let me tell you!

I remember reading a review from a guy named Zachary who couldn’t stop raving about their ‘super stable and fast’ servers and the ‘incredibly knowledgeable’ support team. I’ve had similar experiences with their support team, always there to help out when you need them.

Another user, Taylor, spoke about how friendly and quick to respond the support staff was. He even mentioned expanding his use of RackNerd’s servers and planning to continue this growth.

Over in Korea, a user by the handle Nighthawk had nothing but praise for the support team’s swift problem-solving skills, which made VPS installation as easy as pie.

Then there’s Aleh from Belarus who compared RackNerd favorably against six other providers. He singled out their competitive pricing, reliable uptime, and user-friendly interface.

Reddit

Often, I find myself scrolling through Reddit threads for valuable insights, and RackNerd is one topic that catches my attention.

Reddit users share their experiences, giving us a good idea of the pros and cons of RackNerd’s hosting services.

And let me tell you, it’s quite a mix.

Some users like u/juvort and u/pwky1225 seem to be having a great time.

They appreciate the quick response from the support team and reliable performance, especially with their cPanel and VPS services.

I’ve seen similar stories from others, like u/ajmal017 and u/truong0vanchien, who find the affordability and effectiveness of their multiple VPS setups pretty noteworthy.

Now, here’s an interesting story.

User u/ManCereal was using a Minecraft server and despite the chance of packet loss, they found RackNerd’s service pretty efficient. That’s good news for gamers!

But hey, it’s not all sunshine and rainbows.

Some users raise issues with customer support and refund policies. That being said, RackNerd isn’t just sitting back and ignoring these complaints.

They’re active on Reddit, responding to specific issues, and seem committed to fixing problems and improving their service.

I’ve seen this kind of interaction and support, and it’s something that I, and many others, find quite valuable when dealing with tech stuff.

Final Words

RackNerd’s shared hosting services are really something. I’ve been using them for a year now and I can tell you, they’re great.

What’s awesome is that I’m paying less but getting more. That’s what I call value for money.

There’s never been a time when my site was down. That’s a big deal because if your site is down, you could miss out on a lot. And let me tell you, in the online world, every second matters. So, thanks to RackNerd, I’ve never had to worry about that.

Their support team is also really good. Whenever I’ve a question or need help, they’re right there with a quick and smart answer. They’re very helpful.

I’ve noticed my website is loading faster on both mobile and desktop. That’s great because it makes visiting my site a better experience for people. And that’s what it’s all about, right?

To sum it up, I’m really happy I chose RackNerd. They’ve not only met my expectations, but they’ve gone above and beyond.

They’re one of the best in the shared hosting market and I’d totally recommend them if you’re looking for good, reliable hosting services.
