- Bitcoin has joined religion and Gold as the only things that survive human and technological disruption, says veteran Wall Street investor Jordi Visser.
- Wealthy holders, not retail investors, drive Bitcoin’s price, yet the top 10% of U.S. households holding $184 trillion largely avoid it.
- Crypto’s true demand will come from AI agents using stablecoins on layer-2 networks, not from human users.
Veteran Wall Street investor Jordi Visser told the Coin Stories podcast that Bitcoin now belongs to a tiny group of things that survive repeated Waves of human and technological disruption.
“There are very few things that survive the disruption of human beings and technology: religion, gold, and now Bitcoin,” Visser said on the Coin Stories podcast on Saturday. The head of AI Macro Nexus Research at 22v Research called Bitcoin the only technology inside crypto he can “guarantee will be here 20 years” and described it as “the collateral of the system.”
Visser argued that everything else moves too fast to last, citing OpenAI.com/index/navier-stokes-solution/”>OpenAI’s recent solution to a 150-year-old math problem as proof of how quickly the frontier shifts. He also pushed back on the idea that retail adoption raises Bitcoin’s price.
Roughly $184 trillion in U.S. household net worth sits with the top 10%, he said, and “they don’t believe in Bitcoin.” Visser pointed to Stanley Druckenmiller as a signal, whose Duquesne Family Office disclosed a $23 million position in Hyperliquid Strategies (PURR).
“It’s a big deal that he owns something that is on the bridge,” Visser noted. He argued that crypto’s real customer hasn’t arrived yet.
“I hate to tell people, crypto is not made for humans,” he said. That demand comes from AI agents instead, using stablecoins on layer-2 networks built on Ethereum and Solana.
Visser is not the first investor to compare Bitcoin to religion. Roughly six years ago, billionaire Mark Cuban called Bitcoin “a store of value like gold that is more religion than solution to any problem,” arriving at the opposite conclusion.
