Shiba Inu reached a new low of $0.0000054 on Monday, falling nearly 67% over the past year amid a relentless downturn. The dog-themed token has seen buying activity and social media frenzy plummet, with traders largely abandoning the meme currency.
According to the latest derivatives data from TradingView, eight out of ten cryptocurrency exchanges have seen a decline in Shiba Inu’s Futures open interest. Positions are closing faster than they open, a trend that began in 2024 and accelerated through 2026.
The decline is consistent across all major platforms. Futures open interest for SHIB has fallen 11.31% on KuCoin, 4.08% on MEXC, 3.37% on OKX, 2.12% on Bitget, and 2.02% on Gate.
Consequently, SHIB derivatives volume has decreased by nearly 70% on KuCoin, 41% on Bitget, and roughly 34% on MEXC. Volume on dYdX, LBank, and WhiteBIT also declined.
This is a dangerous precedent for Shiba Inu, as falling Futures open interest signals a deep bear market. An uptick is difficult, as convincing traders to enter positions while the AI sector generates meteoric gains is a herculean task. The road ahead for SHIB is narrow, bumpy, and filled with derailment.
