DefiLlama delayed the launch of its mobile application for months while its team struggled to remove phishing apps from the Apple App Store that impersonated the analytics provider, according to the company’s pseudonymous founder, 0xngmi. The founder stated in a Saturday X post that the company “waited ‘till all the fake apps were taken down before we launched ours to avoid any user getting scammed.”
The DefiLlama team had tried for months to get one specific malicious app removed, but Apple took no action during that period. However, according to 0xngmi’s additional post, the app was taken down “in days” after the team downloaded it and documented it draining funds from a small crypto wallet.
