- The BRICS 2026 summit on September 12-13 will likely focus on de-dollarization and linking member currencies into CBDCs.
The US-based publicly listed Marriott International (NASDAQ: MAR), operator of the JW Marriott in New Delhi, has been booked by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) after authorities discovered cockroaches, flies, and expired food in its kitchen. This inspection comes just weeks before the hotel is set to accommodate foreign dignitaries and diplomats attending the BRICS 2026 summit.
Officials found expired food products, pest infestations, refrigeration issues, and inadequate segregation of vegetarian and non-vegetarian items at the Aerocity property. Two bread packets bore expired stickers, and the pastry section contained several expired cake bases, according to a report from News18.
Hyatt was also raided by FSSAI officials, who found 87 kilograms of expired sweets in the confectionery area alongside a foul smell in the kitchen. The regulator has widened its inspection net to include food suppliers, whose licenses could be at risk if safety issues emerge.
The BRICS 2026 summit is scheduled for September 12 and 13 in New Delhi. Discussions about linking national currencies into CBDCs are expected, with the Reserve Bank of India leading talks.
Settling trade in local currencies will take first priority over the US dollar, according to summit planning documents. Security has been significantly increased around the capital for the event.
