Justin Sun breaks promise, enlists Hu Xijin in ex-girlfriend feud

Justin Sun breaks pledge to stop attacking ex, Hu Xijin criticizes, crypto liquidity and China return questioned.

  • Justin Sun reversed his pledge to stop attacking ex-girlfriend Jing Tian, reaching out to prominent Chinese writer Hu Xijin to air grievances about betrothal gifts.
  • Hu Xijin publicly criticized Sun, writing that those trying to “wash away evil and hypocrisy with short essays will not gain sympathy.”
  • Sun suggested he is illiquid and hyperconcentrated in crypto, raising questions after suing his ex for roughly $4 million in betrothal gifts.
  • Hu invited Sun to chat in Beijing, but Sun has been unable or unwilling to return to mainland China for nearly a decade.

Justin Sun has again escalated his public attacks on ex-girlfriend Jing Tian, just three days after telling Binance founder Changpeng Zhao he was done airing personal grievances online. This time, Sun reached out to Hu Xijin, whom The Guardian labeled China’s “troll king,” to complain about the betrothal gifts he is suing to recover.

Hu addressed the drama in an article, bluntly concluding that anyone trying to “wash away his evil and hypocrisy by writing short essays will certainly not gain widespread sympathy.” Sun did not take the criticism lightly.

In a post on X, Sun claimed his dispute reflects questions faced by “200 million Chinese men” about bride prices, childbearing costs, and whether men should satisfy every demand from women. Hu responded publicly, stating, “It’s clear you value the Chinese public opinion arena… Let’s have a good chat when you’re in Beijing.”

Sun has been unable or unwilling to return to mainland China for nearly a decade. His lawsuit seeking roughly $4 million in betrothal gifts has fueled questions about his liquidity.

Sun seemed to suggest he is indeed illiquid, hyperconcentrated in crypto, and unwilling to convert holdings because “the people who truly held on and won never did so by ‘cashing out in time.’” The personal, professional, and liquidity pillars supporting Sun’s success all appear to be collapsing in 2026.
