The London Stock Exchange (LSE) and cryptocurrency exchange Kraken are reportedly launching tokenized stock trading on the stock market operator’s new night-time venue, LSE 24, starting in 2027, according to a report in the Financial Times.
The venue will offer 24/5 trading from Mondays to Fridays, the company announced in July.
This initiative makes the LSE the latest traditional exchange to explore blockchain-based stocks with round-the-clock availability and fractional ownership.
Meanwhile, other major TradFi institutions are also moving. In August, Nasdaq agreed to acquire alternative trading system LeveL Markets as part of its push into tokenized markets.
Nasdaq had earlier partnered with Payward and its Backed subsidiary to develop an equities transformation gateway, building on a tokenization proposal filed with US regulators in September 2025.
Additionally, ICE invested in crypto exchange OKX to bring NYSE-listed tokenized stocks to the exchange from the second quarter of 2026.
Deutsche Börse invested $200 million in Payward in April, aiming to expand blockchain-based securities offerings.
CME Group announced plans in January for crypto futures tied to Cardano (ADA), ChainLink (LINK), and Stellar (XLM), later adding Avalanche (AVAX) and Sui (SUI) futures subject to regulatory approval.
The total value of tokenized stocks has increased 15% in the past 30 days to $2.53 billion, while the number of tokenized equity holders grew 153% to 2.45 million, according to data provider RWA.xyz.
