On September 30, US President Donald Trump signed an executive order renaming Artificial Intelligence to “Super Intelligence,” a move that independent journalist Adam Cochran alleges allowed insiders to profit millions from .si domain name registrations. Cochran spotted a spike in .si domain registrations across June and July before the announcement, with AI-related domains bought for tens of thousands and then listed for millions—Build.si currently offered at over $14 million.
Cochran found 12,000 such domains registered before the order, noting that before July, 95% of all .si domains had been non-English. He claims a group of Trump-linked insiders used advance knowledge of the executive order to buy overpriced aftermarket domains.
Meanwhile, Trump met with tech executives including Anthropic‘s Dario Amodei, Meta‘s Mark Zuckerberg, and OpenAI‘s Greg Brockman, who signed a “morally binding” accord on AI safety. The White House order claims AI is an outdated term and that “Super Intelligence” better describes the technology, a change that will see the US government no longer acknowledge AI. OpenAI and XAI are expected to consider rebranding as well.
