The service will be extended later this month to some flagship stores such as Rodeo Dive in Los Angeles and Vooster Street in New York. Gucci, owned by France’s Kering, joins a growing number of companies that have begun accepting the virtual currencies.

Customers who choose to pay with cryptocurrencies will receive an email with the QR code to use for their digital wallet. The rollout will begin in stores in the US and Canada later this month, before expanding to the rest of the world.

Gucci is yet another international company accepting cryptocurrencies, in a wave of acceptance by mainstream businesses such as Microsoft, telecom giant AT&T and coffee chain Starbucks.
