Through phone calls and emails, members of the network encouraged unsuspecting victims to invest large sums of money in various financial instruments, promising large profits, according to a statement by the Hellenic Police.
According to the same statement, the funds transferred, were distributed in a complex money laundering network operating throughout Europe.
The wanted man denied any involvement in the case, stressing that he was not the person the Germans were looking for.
