Crypto finally sheds ‘get rich quick’ label: Nansen CEO

Nansen CEO sees crypto shift from toys to real-world assets

  • Nansen CEO Alex Svanevik says crypto is shifting from “toy world” reputation to real-world assets like tokenized stocks and indices.
  • He defends Solana as a strong long-term ecosystem beyond meme coins, praising its development team and business development.
  • Bitcoin may have found its cycle bottom near $60,000, based on its role as a hedge against central bank money creation.
  • Robinhood chain is gaining traction without needing a token, leveraging the company’s existing distribution and Nasdaq listing.

Alex Svanevik, founder and CEO of blockchain analytics firm Nansen, told the Trade Secrets show that the crypto industry is finally shedding its decade-old “get rich quick” reputation. He argued that blockchains are moving from a “toy world” era into a real-world phase where non-crypto assets like tokenized stocks and S&P 500 indices are gaining traction on platforms such as Hyperliquid.

Despite Solana’s association with meme coins, Svanevik calls that view “completely ridiculous” and highlights the chain’s strong team and business development. He believes Solana will perform well as an ecosystem, though he refrains from predicting the SOL price over the next twelve months. Separately, he is bullish on the Ethereum layer-2 network Robinhood chain, which launched on July 1, citing its excellent user distribution and noting that the company has no need to issue a token given its Nasdaq-listed stock.

On Bitcoin, Svanevik suggests the market may be nearing a bottom around $60,000, forecasting that “Bitcoin’s not gonna go back below $60,000” because it serves as a hedge against ongoing global monetary expansion. Data from CoinMarketCap shows Solana’s price down 9.60% over the past 30 days, while Bitcoin has risen 1.50% in the same period according to the same source. However, veteran investor Michael Terpin disagrees, predicting further pain and a potential drop into the $40,000 range from its October 2025 all-time high of $126,100.
