Can Apple Stock Double by 2030?

Apple stock near $295, debate on doubling by 2030 amid growth versus valuation concerns.

  • Apple trades near $295 as debate intensifies over whether the stock can double by 2030, a scenario requiring 15% annual growth alongside current valuation
  • Bulls highlight 2.5 billion active devices, expanding services margins, and consistent buybacks as key growth drivers
  • Skeptics warn of a 35.7 price-to-earnings ratio, slower AI investment versus rivals, and EPS forecasts of 12.9% that fall short of the doubling threshold

Could Apple stock double by 2030? That question is drawing attention as Apple trades near $295, roughly 6% below its all-time high, with bulls and skeptics clashing over services growth, AI investment, and valuation risk.

Apple’s installed base of over 2.5 billion active devices fuels a services business with margins well above hardware. iPhone 17 demand lifted iPhone revenue more than 21% year over year in each of the last two reported quarters, while steady buybacks continue supporting per share earnings.

CEO Tim Cook stated, “We see AI as one of the most profound technologies of our lifetime.” That signals deeper AI investment across devices and platforms, reinforcing the bull case for future growth.

However, shares trade at a price-to-earnings ratio near 35.7, a rich multiple leaving little room for error. Component costs, particularly memory chips, have climbed and are pressuring gross margins.

Apple’s AI budget is also viewed as smaller than what Alphabet and Amazon are spending, a gap that could widen as rivals push further into AI features. Cook also addressed R&D spending, noting, “R&D is accelerating much higher than the company overall.”

Analysts expect EPS to grow about 12.9% annually through fiscal 2028, below the roughly 15% needed for a stock double. Consequently, the average Apple stock price target for 2030 remains well under $600.

A full double would require strong earnings growth and steady valuation working together, a combination that rarely aligns given current growth estimates and the existing high multiple. Apple remains a dominant business with strong margins, but whether AAPL doubles by 2030 depends heavily on how fast services and AI actually grow from here.
