Binance has invested $100 million in Circle (CRCL), the issuer of the USDC stablecoin, as part of a new five-year strategic partnership announced Tuesday. The exchange outlined the deal in a blog post, emphasizing a focus on expanding USDC access globally, particularly in emerging markets.
Under the agreement, Binance will lead distribution and adoption while Circle continues supplying the infrastructure for stablecoin holdings and usage. The commitment signals a long-term push to broaden access to a trusted digital dollar.
“Circle has earned its place as one of the most credible issuers in the world, spanning USDC, Arc and the infrastructure reshaping how value moves across borders,” said Richard Teng, co-CEO of Binance. “Our $100 million investment and five-year commitment represent long-duration conviction.”
Teng added: “A stable, trusted digital dollar should not be a privilege – it should be available to anyone with a phone. That’s the future this partnership is designed to deliver.”
“Binance has built one of the largest and most dynamic platforms in the world for using digital currency, creating the internet’s largest financial super app,” said Jeremy Allaire, Co-founder, Chairman and CEO of Circle. “Together, we see incredible opportunities to leverage USDC to expand dollar access and reach people throughout global emerging markets.”
Meanwhile, Binance purchased Class A Circle shares at a 5% discount to the stock’s last closing price of $94.49. CRCL moved little on Tuesday but has gained over 10% in the past five days.
