Tesla Set to Launch Semi Truck in Two Variants

Tesla Semi production ramps up in Nevada with deliveries starting this year.

  • Tesla is gearing up to start volume production of its Tesla Semi electric truck at its dedicated Nevada factory.
  • The Semi will be available in two variants—standard range (~325 miles) and long range (~500 miles)—with prices for the 500-mile version starting at $290,000.
  • Vehicle deliveries are now slated to commence this year, expanding the company’s commercial offerings.
  • Retail sentiment for TSLA stock on Stocktwits dropped from ‘extremely bullish’ to ‘bullish’ over the past 24 hours.

Tesla Inc is nearing completion of its Semi truck factory in Nevada, a key step toward starting volume production this year, according to a post on X. This move aims to expand the EV giant’s lineup for commercial customers with its fully electric semi truck.

The company originally unveiled the Tesla Semi in November 2017, promising up to 500 miles of range on a single charge. Consequently, vehicle deliveries are now slated to commence this year, offering commercial clients a new electric option.

As per Tesla’s website, the vehicle will be available in two variants—standard range and long range. Meanwhile, the long range variant offers about 500 miles of range, while the standard range provides approximately 325 miles.

Last month, Electrek reported that the company is quoting $290,000 for the 500-mile version before destination fees and taxes. This price is higher than announced at its unveiling but remains below the industry average for a class 8 electric truck.

The company’s only other truck in production is the stainless steel Cybertruck, which has failed to reap as many deliveries as estimated by Tesla CEO Elon Musk. However, Tesla is also looking to start volume production of its dedicated robotaxi, the Cybercab, in 2026.

On Stocktwits, retail sentiment around TSLA stock fell from ‘extremely bullish’ to ‘bullish’ territory over the past 24 hours. Moreover, TSLA stock has gained 45% over the past 12 months.
