Tsinghua University partners with Ripple to support graduate students who want to become leading lights in the blockchain field.

China’s top graduate students keen on developing blockchain technologies may soon be lining up for a spot in Tsinghua University’s newest research endeavor. The Blockchain Technology Research Scholarship Program (BRSP) will draw on the research resources and achievements of Tsinghua’s Institute for Fintech Research (THUIFR). The scholarship program is supported by Ripple, which is collaborating with colleges around the world through its University Blockchain Research Initiative.

THUIFR aims to build a healthy, stable and sustainable FinTech ecosystem in China, in part by providing world-class research and practical guidance for the industry.

According to Ivy Gao, director of international cooperation and development at THUIFR, “BRSP aims to help students have a comprehensive view of the latest international regulations on blockchain technology, and most importantly, I believe, this program would greatly help with their future research or career in the field of blockchain technology.” In addition to the research work, students who are admitted to the program would have opportunities to participate in corporate visits and events.

Ripple’s senior vice president of global operations, Eric van Miltenburg, said, “We are very impressed with THUIFR for taking a unique and innovative approach to engaging China’s young leaders in the blockchain space. We’re thrilled to support THUIFR in this endeavor.”
