Monero has released version 0.18.4.0 of its GUI wallet software, codenamed ‘Fluorine Fermi,’ on April 5, 2025. According to the announcement by contributor selsta, this is a recommended update that addresses multiple daemon-related network vulnerabilities that affect the privacy-focused cryptocurrency’s software.

The latest release builds upon previous versions with several notable improvements. Users who experienced issues with the “Create Wallet” button getting stuck will find this problem resolved in the new version. The update also fixes testnet wallet detection issues and includes an upgrade to P2Pool version 4.4, enhancing the software’s mining capabilities.

Technical Improvements

The development team has upgraded the Qt framework to version 5.15.16, providing a more stable foundation for the wallet’s graphical interface. This release represents the collaborative effort of seven contributors who added 106 new lines of code across 40 commits. Contributors included luigi1111, tobtoht, SChernykh, plowsof, Malinero, preland, and selsta.

“This is a recommended release that fixes multiple daemon-related network vulnerabilities,” notes the announcement, highlighting the security-focused nature of this update. For users seeking more detailed information, the CLI release notes are available in a previous blog post.

Download and Verification

Users can download the new software from the official Monero Downloads page. The update is available across multiple platforms, with separate binaries for Windows, Mac (both x64 and ARM), and Linux operating systems.

To ensure security, the Monero team has provided SHA256 hashes for verifying downloaded files. Users are encouraged to check these hashes against the GPG-signed list available at the official downloads hash page. Two verification guides are available: one for beginners on Windows and another for advanced users on Linux, Mac, or Windows command line.

A comprehensive guide for the GUI wallet is included in the downloaded archives, with an online version also available for user reference. The complete list of changes can be viewed on GitHub, along with the source code.
