Micron Stock Split 2026? Odds Rise as MU Tops $900

Micron stock above $900 sparks split speculation after two-decade silence.

  • Micron Technology stock has surged above $900, fueling speculation about its first stock split in over two decades.
  • The company historically executed three splits between 1994 and 2000, which would have turned one share into ten.
  • CEO Sanjay Mehrotra has made no official announcement, but strong earnings growth and tight market conditions support the possibility.

Micron hasn’t declared a stock split for 2026, yet the odds keep climbing as MU shares trade above $900 apiece at the time of writing. No official Micron stock split 2026 date exists on the calendar, since CEO Sanjay Mehrotra and his team have stayed quiet on the topic through recent earnings calls.

A look back at history shows the company already carried out three splits between 1994 and 2000, and that gap is part of why a fresh stock split prediction keeps coming up right now. Investors are watching the stock’s climb pretty closely, and the answer is that the setup is there, even if the announcement isn’t.

Micron Technology’s shares have jumped more than 7x over the past year, driving the whole conversation around a stock split. However, the stock has also pulled back around 29% since its 52-week high on June 25, due to investors rotating out of memory names rather than changes inside Micron’s actual business.

At just over $900 a share, the stock sits at a price where companies tend to consider a split, since a lower per share price makes shares an easier buy for retail investors. Three stock splits have happened for Micron so far, all landing in the 1990s and early 2000s: a 5-for-2 split on April 19, 1994, a 2-for-1 split on May 23, 1995, and a 2-for-1 split on May 2, 2000.

An investor who held one share before 1994 would now be holding 10, thanks to those three moves stacking on top of each other. Micron hasn’t declared a split since the dot-com era, and that’s exactly why investors keep digging up this history whenever the stock hits a new high.

Sanjay Mehrotra, Chairman, President and CEO, stated: “We expect tight conditions to persist beyond calendar 2027 as a result of AI-driven demand across all segments coupled with structural supply constraints.” Micron currently trades at 19 times earnings and just 5.5 times forward earnings, a valuation some analysts view as cheap given how fast the company is growing.

Earnings grew by roughly 13x year over year last quarter, and Micron signed 16 long-term supply deals with customers including Qualcomm and Harman in the past month alone. A stock split wouldn’t change earnings, revenue, or market cap on its own, but traders do tend to read it as a sign of confidence, and a 10-for-1 split would knock MU’s price down to somewhere around $90.
