Intel stock surges 12% on strong AI, data center revenue growth

Intel stock surges 12% on strong AI revenue, beating estimates.

  • Intel stock surged 12% on Thursday after reporting a 25% year-over-year revenue increase and a 59% jump in Data Center/AI revenue.
  • Chip sector stocks rallied broadly, with the iShares Semiconductor ETF (SOXX) rising 8%, AMD up 13%, and TSMC up 7%.
  • Intel is racing TSMC in advanced manufacturing as AI demand outstrips supply, with Intel’s 18A technology targeted for high-volume production in 2026.
  • The company’s Q2 2026 earnings beat analyst estimates, and Q3 guidance of $15.8–$16.8 billion revenue and $0.38 EPS exceeded expectations, leading analysts to reiterate buy ratings.

On Thursday, Intel (INTC) shares climbed 12% after the chipmaker reported a strong earnings beat, driven by a 59% surge in Data Center and AI revenue. The company posted its strongest quarterly revenue growth in over 15 years, topping the analyst consensus of $14.4 billion.

However, Intel stock remains down more than 34% over the past month, despite the positive results. The broader chip sector also rallied, with the iShares Semiconductor ETF (SOXX) gaining 8%, AMD rising 13%, and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (TSM) advancing 7%.

Meanwhile, TSMC and Intel are locked in a race over advanced semiconductor manufacturing as AI spending soars, with NVIDIA-ceo-jensen-huang-is-flying-to-taiwan-nearly-every-month-asking-for-more-gp-us-the-answer-remains-not-yet/cZgElRhReY0″>demand outstripping supply. Intel is rebuilding its foundry business under new CEO Lip-Bu Tan, and its 18A technology is expected to reach high-volume production in 2026.

Intel has also secured deals with major tech names like Apple and Tesla, contributing to its quarterly sales growth. The stock has delivered a more than 350% return over the past 12 months, with a 52-week range of $18.97 to $142.35.

For Q3 2026, Intel guided revenue of $15.8 billion to $16.8 billion and adjusted EPS of $0.38, well above analyst expectations. Multiple firms, including Bank of America, Truist Financial, and Mizuho, reiterated buy ratings this week, with the average analyst price target at $119.11.
