- ChainLink‘s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) is now live on Hedera‘s mainnet, connecting it with over 45 other blockchain networks.
- The integration enables secure token transfers, messaging, and cross-chain actions, potentially expanding Hedera’s DeFi and tokenized real-world asset ecosystems.
- Developers can now utilize the Cross-chain Token (CCT) Standard with self-serve deployments while maintaining full ownership of their token contracts.
Hedera has announced the successful mainnet launch of Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP), enabling developers to build applications that can securely transfer tokens, send messages, and initiate actions across multiple blockchain networks. The integration connects Hedera to more than 45 other blockchain ecosystems and aims to enhance the flow of users and liquidity into Hedera’s growing DeFi and tokenized real-world asset (RWA) environments.
This development follows HBAR Foundation’s earlier participation in the Chainlink Scale program, which was established to provide Hedera developers with improved access to Chainlink’s oracle services. As noted in the official announcement, the collaboration has already brought Chainlink Data Feeds and Proof of Reserve to Hedera, with CCIP being the latest addition to accelerate DeFi and tokenized RWA adoption.
Enhanced Security and Functionality
The integration leverages Chainlink’s battle-tested security infrastructure, which has supported over $75 billion in DeFi Total Value Locked (TVL) at its peak and enabled more than $20 trillion in on-chain transaction value. Notably, ERC-20 serves as the default specification for tokens migrated to or from Hedera, providing familiarity for developers across ecosystems.
"Secure blockchain interoperability is critical for a thriving DeFi and tokenized RWA ecosystem. That’s why we’re thrilled that Chainlink’s CCIP is now live on Hedera — bringing seamless, cross-chain connectivity to developers. We can’t wait to see the novel cross-chain apps the Hedera community builds with this game-changing standard," said Greg Scullard, Executive Director of Developer Advocacy for EMEA at Hashgraph.
Key Developer Benefits
The integration offers developers several significant advantages. The rapidly growing CCIP network provides access to 41+ chains with future-proof architecture designed for continuous improvement. The infrastructure operates with the same reliability as other Chainlink services that underpin major DeFi protocols, ensuring zero downtime for cross-chain transactions.
Additionally, developers can utilize the Cross-Chain Token (CCT) standard, which enables them to integrate new and existing tokens via CCIP in minutes using tools like Token Manager. The CCT standard supports self-serve deployments with full control and ownership for developers.
Thodoris Karakostas, Head of Blockchain Partnerships at Chainlink Labs, expressed enthusiasm about the launch: "We’re excited to see the Chainlink standard for cross-chain interoperability live on Hedera mainnet. Along with Chainlink Data Feeds and Proof of Reserve on Hedera, CCIP enables developers to build secure cross-chain apps that drive adoption and expand Hedera’s DeFi and tokenized RWA ecosystems."
With this integration, Hedera continues to strengthen its position as a trust layer for the digital economy, providing developers with enhanced tools to build applications with real-world impact across the broader blockchain landscape.
