- Google stock has tumbled from $408 to $328 since mid-May 2026, with analysts warning of a possible drop below $300.
- Alphabet raised its AI infrastructure budget from $180 billion to $205 billion, deepening bearish sentiment.
- Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian claims the company’s TPU accelerator business is twice the size of its closest hyperscaler competitor.
Alphabet’s Google stock (NASDAQ: GOOG) has been mired in a downturn since May 2026, sliding from a $408 high to $328 at Wednesday’s close. The relentless decline has sparked fears that the equity could breach the $300 support level.
Analysts contend the stock has yet to bottom out. Alphabet‘s decision to increase AI infrastructure spending from $180 billion to $205 billion has only intensified the bearish outlook.
GOOG has plunged nearly 8% in a month, falling from $355 to $328. Nonetheless, Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway has expressed confidence in the company’s AI prospects.
At Goldman Sachs’ Communacopia conference, Thomas Kurian, the CEO of Google Cloud, delivered a bold assertion. “The size of our accelerator business, our TPU business, is more than twice that of the next-largest hyperscaler,” he stated.
Alphabet must contend with Amazon and Microsoft, both of which have developed custom AI chips. Amazon has already begun selling its Trainium accelerators to external customers, while Microsoft has built its Maia chips.
To reclaim the $400 threshold, Google will need to scale production and sales. The AI race remains intensely competitive as technology evolves daily.
