X’s former head of product, Nikita Bier, recently responded to accusations of shadow-banning a cryptocurrency-focused user by confirming that trading on the platform is imminent. Bier stated he “literally built Cashtags, allowing people to add Solana and Ethereum charts directly into posts—with trade buttons coming soon.”
Consequently, this development aligns with long-standing teasers from X employees and owner Elon Musk. Bier echoed this sentiment earlier this year, questioning if the platform should launch something to address a struggling cryptocurrency market, likely referencing a trading option. “There wasn’t a single feature on X for crypto traders,” Bier added in a post on X.
With hundreds of millions of active users, integrating trading could drive massive adoption and potentially trigger a bullish outbreak for the sector. Musk has specifically endorsed Dogecoin in the past and enabled crypto payments for Tesla and SpaceX merchandise.
Meanwhile, X is also expanding access to its payments platform, with many hopeful cryptocurrencies will be included. Although no official confirmation exists, the likelihood remains high given Musk’s history. Combining both payments and trading on X could significantly increase the crypto user base.
