Bitcoin’s $81K–$86K zone tests bulls as long-term holders resist.

Bitcoin faces key resistance at $83k-$86k as long-term holder supply and trend lines converge tightly.

  • Bitcoin struggles to flip $80,000 into support as long-term holder supply creates resistance between $83,000 and $86,000.
  • On-chain data from Glassnode reveals multiple overhead liquidity structures, including order-book ask walls and cost-basis shelves, all converging between $81,000 and $86,000.
  • Key trend lines—the 50-week and 100-week EMAs plus the 365-day VWAP—tighten around spot price, raising the stakes for a decisive breakout or breakdown.

Bitcoin has failed to turn $80,000 into support in recent days, but the true test for bulls lies higher, according to new research from Glassnode. The analytics firm’s latest newsletter, The Week Onchain, highlights that long-term holders—wallets that have held BTC for at least six months—now dominate the supply zone above $83,000.

“The first heavy structure is $83K-86K, and effectively all of it is long-term holder supply that has sat through the entire drawdown,” Glassnode wrote. Reaching $83,000 would test whether these holders sell at breakeven or hold. Meanwhile, new ask liquidity has appeared on exchange order books within the same range, though some orders may be placed simply to stay above rising spot prices.

“Every overhead structure we track now sits between $81K and $86K; that band is where the recovery’s demand meets its test,” the firm added. Trend lines further complicate the picture: Bitcoin’s 50-week and 100-week exponential moving averages currently sit at $77,353 and $78,485, respectively, while the 365-day volume-weighted average price hovers around $82,600.

Trader and analyst Rekt Capital has stressed that Bitcoin must hold its 50-week EMA for a longer period before a meaningful trend change can be considered. Consequently, the $81,000–$86,000 corridor now represents a critical battleground for the next major price move.
