A volunteer security group of just 16 people, the Bitcoin Red Team, has reported finding nearly 5,000 potential vulnerabilities during an AI-assisted review of open-source Bitcoin projects. The team, which includes CEO of AnchorWatch Rob Hamilton and Bitcoin developer Calle, is using a combination of AI tools and manual inspection to scan repositories. “There’s a lot of chaos right now in the ecosystem,” said Calle in a post to X on Wednesday. “We absolutely understand that many people are being bombarded with security issues right now.” Consequently, the team states the pace of discovery is staggering. “We’re averaging on the order of 1 critical exploit per hour per person,” Calle added.
