Bitcoin climbed back above $80,000 on Friday morning for the first time in over a week, with Hyperliquid and Solana leading gains among crypto majors. The apex cryptocurrency rose over 4% to $80,800, though retail sentiment on Stocktwits remained in bearish territory over the past day.
The rally came after the Commodity Futures Trading Commission filed two new proposals — the Regulation Crypto Asset Transactions and the Regulation Crypto Asset Markets — with the White House’s Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs for review. The filing follows the blocking of the Clarity Act in a Senate procedural vote earlier this week, which had dragged Bitcoin’s price below $75,000 on Tuesday.
The overall cryptocurrency market jumped 2% higher to just under $2.8 trillion, with CoinGlass data showing nearly $490 million in crypto bets liquidated in the last 24 hours. Shorts led the bleed with $431 million underwater.
Hyperliquid led gains among major cryptocurrencies, with HYPE’s price climbing more than 10% over the past 24 hours to a record high above $91. Solana followed, with SOL’s price up more than 8% to just under $110, though it remains roughly 62% below its record high from January 2025.
Ethereum gained about 3.9%, while Ripple‘s XRP climbed 4.6% and ZCash reached a record high above $1,500 on Friday morning before paring gains. Among other major altcoins, Uniswap gained about 19% while Near Protocol rose 25%.
Arbitrum was among the biggest gainers in the top 50 cryptocurrencies, with ARB’s price jumping nearly 30% in roughly two hours to around $0.22. The move came one day after the SEC cleared a path for authorized venues to offer tokenized U.S. stocks under a five-year conditional exemption.
On the equities side, crypto-linked large caps also rallied, with Michael Saylor-backed Strategy rising over 10% and Coinbase climbing more than 9% in morning trade. Circle and Bitmine Immersion Technologies shares gained around 7% each.
