Binance France President Targeted in Armed Robbery

Binance France president targeted in armed home invasion; gang attacks second crypto entrepreneur.

  • Binance France president David Princay was targeted by armed robbers at his Val-de-Marne apartment on Thursday, losing two phones.
  • The same gang then attacked a crypto entrepreneur in Vaucresson hours later before police tracked and arrested them in Lyon.
  • The incidents are part of a wider trend of crypto-related kidnappings and home invasions in France targeting industry figures.
  • Binance CEO Richard Teng confirmed the employee and his family are safe and cooperating with authorities.

Armed robbers targeted Binance France president David Princay at his apartment near Paris on Thursday before attacking another crypto entrepreneur hours later, according to local media. The three assailants fled from Princay’s home in Val-de-Marne with two mobile phones, which police later used to track their movements.
Reports indicate the gang then traveled to Vaucresson, where they beat a crypto entrepreneur with their guns before fleeing. Consequently, authorities traced the stolen phones and the gang’s vehicle to this second address.
The poorly planned attacks saw the robbers forcing other building residents to identify Princay’s apartment. Meanwhile, a woman overheard them questioning their own directions during the second raid, stating, “The address isn’t right.”
Police subsequently tracked the three men to the city of Lyon, where they were arrested. Binance CEO Richard Teng confirmed the French colleague and his family are safe and working with law enforcement.
France has seen a series of crypto-specific robberies where criminals physically intimidate victims for digital assets. For instance, a French tax agent who leaked details of crypto entrepreneurs to gangs had her prison appeal rejected last month.
Last year, the alleged ringleader of crypto-related kidnappings in France was arrested in Morocco. In response, France’s Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau promised the industry priority access to emergency police services.
