CEO Cristiano Amon are reportedly set to attend next week’s state dinner with President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping, putting AI safety and chip access in focus. Politico reported the executives’ planned attendance, citing four people familiar with the event, and an OpenAI spokesperson confirmed Altman will attend.
Altman recently supported Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei’s call for an industrywide slowdown and has urged Trump and Xi to set standards for developing and testing advanced AI models. Huang, meanwhile, has rejected concerns that AI could destroy humanity, calling such fears “hysterical.”
The summit could also bring Nvidia’s China business into focus, as Huang has personally lobbied the White House and Congress to allow sales of advanced AI chips to China. Trump previously invited technology executives to his meetings with Xi, including a last-minute invitation to Huang in May.
