- The U.S. Justice Department seized a cloud computing account Hosting backend infrastructure for subsidiaries of Cambodia’s Huione Group.
- The infrastructure supported Huione Guarantee, a Telegram marketplace described as “one of the world’s most prolific criminal marketplaces.”
- On the same day, FinCEN moved to extend an existing U.S. ban on Huione to a successor entity, H-Pay Service PLC.
In a significant strike against a major cybercrime hub, the U.S. Justice Department announced on Tuesday the seizure of a cloud computing account used by subsidiaries of Cambodia’s Huione Group. The account hosted critical backend infrastructure for the conglomerate, which prosecutors accuse of laundering billions from crypto investment scams and cyber fraud. Assistant Attorney General A. Tysen Duva called it “a technological backbone that allowed billions in fraud proceeds to be transferred, moved, and concealed.”
According to court documents, this infrastructure helped operate Huione Guarantee, a marketplace on Telegram where vendors traded stolen data and money laundering services. Blockchain analysts have described it as the largest illicit online marketplace ever. Consequently, U.S. authorities are escalating their pressure on the network’s ability to regroup and continue operations.
Meanwhile, the Treasury’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) moved to extend an existing ban on Huione to a successor entity called H-Pay Service PLC. This action aims to prevent the group from evading U.S. restrictions imposed last October. The Justice Department announced the seizure as part of Operation Riptide, an FBI campaign targeting online fraud infrastructure.
The case was investigated by the FBI’s San Francisco field office and IRS Criminal Investigation. Authorities cited the scale of crypto-related fraud, with Americans reporting over $7.2 billion in losses from crypto investment scams alone in 2025. The department credited blockchain analytics firms Chainalysis and Elliptic, along with Google’s cybercrime team, with assisting the investigation.
