The investment will aid the startup in completing industrial testing and establishing its initial production facility. Generative Bionics plans to begin deploying its humanoid robots in 2026.

Describing its technology as “Physical AI,” Generative Bionics integrates humanoid robotics with artificial intelligence to create machines inspired by human capabilities. The startup originated from the Italian Institute of Technology, where researchers developed more than 60 humanoid prototypes over 20 years. Around 70 engineers from this institute now work at Generative Bionics to commercialize these innovations for sectors including manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, and retail. The company also plans to showcase its first complete humanoid robot at CES 2026 in Las Vegas.

Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino stated, “Tether invests in technologies that strengthen global digital and physical infrastructure and expand human potential. Humanoid robotics and Physical AI represent a powerful evolution in how intelligence and capability operate in the real world.”

The funding round saw participation from CDP Venture Capital’s Artificial Intelligence Fund as lead investor, along with AMD Ventures, Duferco, Eni Next, and RoboIT.
