  • Solana Mobile’s Seeker phone has received 145,000 pre-orders.
  • Major Solana apps like Jupiter are launching mobile versions.
  • Cube Exchange is using Telegram to bypass app store hurdles.
  • DRiP and Birdeye have announced upcoming mobile app releases.
  • Solana is pushing for mobile as the future of its app ecosystem.

Last month, Solana Mobile made waves by announcing that the Solana Seeker would ship in mid-2025. This eagerly awaited second iteration of the Solana phone experiment has already resulted in 145,000 pre-orders, according to Solana Mobile’s general manager, Emmett Hollyer.

However, while the Seeker continues to capture headlines, Solana’s broader app ecosystem is also quietly but significantly shifting towards mobile.

The Seeker’s Early Success

Driven partly by the anticipation of lucrative token airdrops, the Seeker has seen impressive early returns.

This excitement is not only a testament to the phone’s potential features but also reflects the community’s confidence in Solana’s vision for a mobile-first future.

At present, several prominent Solana-native apps are transitioning to mobile platforms.

Jupiter, a giant in Solana’s DeFi landscape, has recently launched its mobile swap platform.

Other notable apps like DRiP, Birdeye, and Cube Exchange have announced their upcoming mobile versions.

Solana seems to be moving into an era where developing mobile apps is becoming almost essential for blockchain projects.

Bartosz Lipinski, CEO of Cube, emphasized this shift by stating, “If blockchain technology is going to become approachable, it needs to meet users where they are — on their phones.

Telegram as a Strategic Platform

One interesting strategy being employed to facilitate this mobile shift involves the use of Telegram.

Cube is releasing a version of its app on Telegram to sidestep app store approval hurdles, leveraging Telegram’s native crypto integration and its crypto-oriented user base.

Lipinski confirmed this approach by highlighting the advantages of quick market access through Telegram.

Caitlyn Clark, director of growth at Solana-based mobile app Moonwalk Fitness, acknowledged Telegram’s benefits for lightweight features but pointed out its limitations. She stated in a direct message, “If your product requires deep functionality, a custom brand experience, and more scalability, building a native app for the app store is probably a better strategy.”

Upcoming App Releases

This rapid shift towards mobile isn’t just talk; it’s becoming a tangible reality. DRiP is expected to launch its mobile app in December, according to a spokesperson.

Cube’s Telegram app is set to release next week, with its iOS version coming in November. Birdeye‘s app is also expected soon.

The push for mobile app development within the Solana ecosystem appears to be partly driven by the continued development of Solana Mobile itself.

With grand ambitions and strong backing from Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko, Solana Mobile is transforming from a buzzword into a critical player in making crypto accessible on mobile devices.

Solana is on the brink of a major shift towards mobile adoption, both through hardware like the Solana Seeker and a slew of upcoming mobile apps.

As crypto investors and enthusiasts, the transition towards mobile platforms represents not just a technological evolution but an opportunity for broader adoption and usability in the crypto space.

While challenges remain, the commitment to meet users on their most-used devices—mobile phones—shows promise for the future of blockchain technology.
