The BrAIn Lab at SeoulTech is led by Assistant Professor Seong-Eun Kim. The lab focuses on adaptive signal processing, biometrics, and neural engineering. Its research involves fields such as EEG (electroencephalogram) analysis, brain-computer interface systems, and secure biometric methods like fingerprint anti-spoofing.

According to Prof. Seong-Eun Kim, the Theta EdgeCloud Hybrid platform, which uses both community-powered GPUs and enterprise GPUs like the NVIDIA A100s and H100s, enables the lab to conduct diverse experiments. “Theta EdgeCloud Hybrid gives our lab the flexibility to run diverse experiments across neuroscience, neural signal processing, neural engineering, and biometrics: from lightweight anomaly detection to large-scale deep learning models,” Kim stated. The platform helps researchers avoid delays often caused by traditional cloud infrastructure limits.

Mitch Liu, CEO and Co-Founder of Theta Labs, said, “We’re thrilled to add SeoulTech’s BrAIn Lab to Theta’s global academic partner network… Theta EdgeCloud removes infrastructure bottlenecks and empowers SeoulTech to lead in brain-inspired AI, neural signal processing, and biomedical innovation.” The Theta EdgeCloud Hybrid platform combines community GPU resources (NVIDIA’s 30, 40, and 50 series), advanced enterprise GPUs, and AI hardware from AWS to offer scalable computing for research.

The BrAIn Lab also develops medical devices, such as systems to detect abnormal lung conditions with digital stethoscopes. Its work includes machine learning, deep learning, and detecting anomalies in medical data.
