- Multiple streams on Pump Fun have shown individuals claiming to be from Gaza launching tokens and requesting funds.
- Duplicate videos were used to promote separate Gaza-themed tokens, making it hard to verify their authenticity.
- Sensational live streams, including dangerous stunts and celebrity promotions, have increased dramatically on the platform.
- The reintroduction of live streaming on Pump Fun appears aimed at increasing user engagement after past moderation issues.
- Organizers advise donating to official charities instead of speculative memecoin sites for humanitarian causes.
Several live streams have surfaced on the Pump Fun platform this week, featuring individuals identified as Gazans launching cryptocurrency tokens and asking viewers for financial support. The streams are part of a wider trend that also included sensational content such as individuals performing dangerous stunts and public figures promoting memecoins.
According to data from the platform, the creator behind the “LIVE FROM GAZA” stream earned just over $4,380 in awards, while the creator of a similar token called “GAZA STREAM” received more than $1,360. Both tokens used what appeared to be the same video of a man in Gaza, making it difficult for viewers and potential investors to confirm which stream was legitimate. A third Gaza-themed token, “GAZA COIN,” was later removed by Pump Fun‘s moderation team.
The renewed interest in streaming on Pump Fun coincided with a surge of sensationalist streams in the community. In one instance, members promoting the “BAGWORK” token conducted streams in front of the Hollywood sign and allegedly leaked an unreleased album by Drake. A member was shown lighting a firework while still holding it. Another token, “STUNT,” was promoted with streams of participants setting themselves on fire before jumping into a river.
Other streams included an individual convincing their grandmother to participate and another quitting their job live while using a treadmill. Notably, public figure Johnny Sins also promoted Pump Fun this week, with a post indicating he may have been compensated.
Pump Fun had previously shut down its live-streaming feature in response to a rise in violent and extreme content. The platform pledged to reinstate streaming only when its moderation systems could handle higher activity levels.
The platform’s reward system incentivizes users to attract attention through livestreams, which can drive up token prices before sharp declines, often at the expense of investors. The article advises individuals interested in supporting humanitarian efforts in Gaza to donate through official charities rather than speculative memecoin platforms.
