- Tomarket will launch its TOMA token on Aptos instead of TON on December 20.
- The platform reports 50 million total users and 6 million daily active users.
- Previous token allocations within the app cannot be withdrawn or traded.
- Aptos was selected for its speed and infrastructure capabilities.
- The move differs from other major Telegram apps that typically choose TON.
Telegram-based gaming platform Tomarket announced it will launch its TOMA token on the Aptos blockchain network, abandoning initial plans to deploy on The Open Network (TON). The decision affects millions of users ahead of the December 20 token launch, marking a significant shift in the Telegram mini-app ecosystem.
The platform’s considerable user base of 50 million total users, including 6 million daily active participants, positions this blockchain selection as particularly noteworthy. While Tomarket has previously distributed token allocations across multiple Waves, these tokens remain locked within the application ecosystem.
Infrastructure Considerations
A Tomarket core team member identified as Miles explained to Decrypt: "Aptos’ high speed and reliable infrastructure provides the scalability Tomarket needs to support its growing user base while delivering smooth, efficient blockchain experiences."
The decision stands out as most Telegram-based cryptocurrency applications, including prominent names like Hamster Kombat and Notcoin, typically deploy on TON. The TON blockchain has seen substantial growth, currently ranking as the 16th largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization according to Toncoin“>CoinGecko, with a price increase of approximately 190% over the past year.
Development Roadmap
Post-token launch, Tomarket’s expansion plans include:
- Additional gaming offerings
- Enhancement of the FarmingPool rewards system
- Launch of a DEX aggregator (decentralized exchange aggregator platform)
This development follows a broader trend of Telegram-based platforms seeking alternative blockchain solutions. Recently, MemeFi, another prominent application, selected the Sui Blockchain after initially planning to launch on Ethereum‘s layer-2 network Linea.
