- Popular streamer Amouranth reported a home invasion where armed robbers demanded cryptocurrency, months after she publicly revealed holding approximately 211 BTC worth $20 million.
- Security footage shows three gunmen fleeing after loud noises were heard during the incident, according to Amouranth’s social media posts.
- This attack joins a growing trend of “crypto wrench” attacks in 2025, where cryptocurrency holders face physical threats to surrender their digital assets.
Popular streamer Kaitlyn Siragusa, better known as Amouranth, reported being targeted in a cryptocurrency-focused home invasion on March 2. The incident occurred months after she publicly disclosed holding approximately 211 Bitcoin valued at $20 million, alongside $80,000 in Ethereum, through her Coinbase account.
Siragusa detailed the attack through a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter), stating the intruders were specifically demanding cryptocurrency. “[They] wanted crypto is what they were yelling,” she wrote in her initial posts late on March 2.
In a follow-up update posted on March 3, Amouranth provided security camera footage allegedly showing three armed individuals on her property. The video appears to show her leading the men to another area, followed by three loud sounds that prompted the intruders to flee.
The incident follows Amouranth’s November 2024 disclosure of her substantial cryptocurrency holdings through a Coinbase screenshot shared on social media. Siragusa has built a reputation for financial transparency, regularly discussing her earnings across various platforms and appearing on personal finance shows.
Siragusa rose to prominence on Twitch, where she became the most-watched female content creator in both 2021 and 2022, before expanding her presence to OnlyFans and other platforms.
This attack represents part of a concerning trend of physical cryptocurrency theft attempts, commonly called “crypto wrench attacks” – a term referencing threats of physical force to compel cryptocurrency transfers.
Several high-profile incidents have occurred in 2025 alone. January saw a Canadian crypto forum moderator forced into hiding following an alleged kidnapping attempt aimed at obtaining his Bitcoin holdings. Later that month, David Balland, co-founder of hardware wallet company Ledger, was reportedly abducted from his residence with kidnappers demanding cryptocurrency as ransom. Another incident allegedly occurred in Chicago during February 2025.
Security experts suggest preventative measures for cryptocurrency holders. As one expert identified as “Dr. Anon” told Cointelegraph Magazine, “These attacks are frequently ‘your money or your life’ situations carried out by sophisticated, professional, and organized criminals. That said, one can significantly limit their losses by having a ‘decoy’ crypto wallet with a small portion of funds.”
