- PEPE surged 14.2% in 24 hours and over 25% in the past week, outperforming Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana.
- The rally follows President Trump’s White House crypto event and a broader market resurgence.
- Whale accumulation and a three-month high in open interest signal bullish momentum, though memecoin volatility remains a risk.
Pepe (PEPE) has emerged as the best-performing cryptocurrency among the top 100 projects by market cap, registering a steep price rally that has outpaced Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and Solana (SOL). According to CoinGecko data, PEPE’s price has risen 14.2% in the last 24 hours and more than 25% in the past week.
The surge comes amid a broader market resurgence following President Trump’s White House event with cryptocurrency executives. During the event, Trump stated that the US may purchase a large amount of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, and Bitcoin has since reclaimed the $75,000 price level.
PEPE’s rally also coincides with increased demand from whale wallets. Santiment data suggests that top non-exchange addresses now hold 84.04 trillion PEPE, a near 4.5 trillion increase from a few days ago.
Meanwhile, CoinGlass data shows that PEPE futures Open Interest has hit a three-month high of $271 million. Movement of coins away from exchanges is considered bullish as it reduces the chances of a sell-off.
However, being a memecoin, PEPE faces heightened volatility risk. While the rally appears healthy and sustainable, there is always the possibility of a price correction as investors book profits.
