McDonald’s Brings NFTs to Holiday Season
McDonald’s has announced a new collaboration with Ethereum NFT project Doodles for the 2023 holiday season.
The partnership, called "GM Spread Joy," introduces special edition cups featuring the distinctive pastel artwork of the Doodles collection.
This initiative spans across 13,500 McDonald’s locations in the United States.
Digital Collectibles and Interactive Experience
The limited-edition cups enable customers to participate in a "pack ripping" experience for digital rewards.
These rewards include accessories and apparel for Doodles characters, along with access to music videos and animated content.
Digital items can be utilized within the Doodles Stoodio app, which operates on the Ethereum layer-2 network Base.
Musical Collaboration with Industry Icons
A highlight of the promotion is a new track titled "Good Mornin", produced by Pharrell Williams and performed by artist Marley Bleu.
The song draws inspiration from internet culture and viral "GM" memes popular in crypto communities.
Doodles’ Market Impact
The Doodles collection, created by artist Scott "Burnt Toast" Martin, consists of 10,000 generative profile pictures.
According to CoinGecko, the collection maintains a total value of 20,296 ETH ($64 million).
The floor price for Doodles NFTs reached 2.7 ETH ($8,500) following McDonald’s announcement on Twitter.
McDonald’s Web3 Strategy
This partnership represents McDonald’s most significant NFT initiative since launching McRib-inspired NFTs in 2021.
The fast-food chain has previously explored Web3 through collaborations with The Sandbox and promotional campaigns for its Grimace character.
Outside the United States, McDonald’s has maintained an active presence in Metaverse gaming and digital collectibles markets.
The promotion aligns with Doodles’ recent partnership with Adidas, which combined virtual collectibles with exclusive physical merchandise.
