Italy: 26% tax on cryptocurrency gains

Profits from trading cryptocurrencies will be taxed at 26% from 2023, according to a new law included in Giorgia Meloni’s government budget and approved by parliament on Thursday.

As Coindesk reports, the 26% rate will apply to cryptocurrency gains if they exceed €2,000 a year.

The law defines cryptocurrencies as “a digital representation of value or rights that can be transferred and stored electronically, using distributed ledger technology”.
