Strategic Academic Expansion

The partnership builds on Theta’s existing relationships with prominent institutions including KAIST, Seoul National University, and the University of Oregon. EIDL, under Professor Haejun Chung’s leadership, brings expertise in:

  • Metalenses for AR/VR applications
  • Advanced photonic waveguide systems
  • Next-generation CMOS sensor technology

Research Impact and Industry Connections

EIDL’s research portfolio includes collaborations with Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, focusing on semiconductor advancement. Professor Chung’s team has published over 100 papers in leading journals including Advanced Photonics and Nanophotonics.

The lab’s work extends beyond academia through partnerships with commercial entities. Notable corporate clients utilizing Theta’s platform include The AI Lab and Liner – ranked fourth among generative AI services by Andreessen Horowitz in March 2024.

"Theta EdgeCloud’s high-performance hybrid GPU infrastructure enables us to execute large-scale simulations and AI-driven optimizations at unmatched speed and scale," stated Professor Chung, highlighting the platform’s role in advancing photonics and semiconductor research.
