Chimpers, a popular Ethereum-based NFT project, has announced the launch of its first physical product in a collaboration with IP incubator 223. The partnership introduces a “plush keychain blind box” collection, featuring Chimpers characters and tying physical ownership to digital experiences.
The Series 1 collectible will only be available through 223’s digital marketplace at launch, according to the company, though plans are in place to expand into retail later. Chimpers has built a social media following of more than 1.8 million, with the goal of creating greater fan engagement. “We’ve built a following of over 1.8 million, but the real goal is turning fans into believers. That shift happens when people can hold a piece of the Chimpverse in their hands,” said Jacob Timperley, co-founder of Chimpers.
Timperley credited 223 with bringing real-world connections to the Chimpers brand. “223’s experience and network will bring the Chimpverse to life in a whole new way and allow the Chimpverse to grow, inviting new audiences to discover and engage with us,” he stated. The plush keychains are distributed in blind boxes—sealed packaging that keeps the specific character hidden until opened.
The physical item comes equipped with 223’s NFC technology, which allows users to unlock digital perks. Buyers will receive an NFT proof-of-collectible, a digital trading card on the Base Network, and access to future digital interactions. “For lifestyle character brands, plush is the emotional centerpiece… It’s often the first product that gets passed down, displayed, or treasured, so it holds significant meaning and is key to start with,” said 223 founder Cole Gernum.
Other NFT collections, such as Walmart-bringing-NFTs-mainstream”>Pudgy Penguins, have recently launched their own physical toy lines, some earning more than $10 million in sales within a year. Timperley said, “Pudgy Penguins has been a trailblazer in this space, proving what’s possible when you combine strong IP with smart distribution.”
Chimpers plush keychains will be priced affordably and available for both crypto and fiat payments. Holders of Chimpers NFTs will have guaranteed access to the presale. “This first online release is one of many small, but intentional moves that will drive long-term discovery and growth for Chimpers,” Timperley said.
The partnership between Chimpers and 223 marks the start of a broader strategy to reach new fans and increase brand engagement.
