The team at ConsenSys announced earlier today via Twitter that the organization is partnering with the International Association for Trusted Blockchain Applications (IATBA), a global initiative supported by the European Commission. In a short video attached to the tweet, ConsenSys founder Joe Lubin noted that the IATBA “is designed to be a platform for blockchain ecosystem organizations” to collaborate to make both blockchain and distributed ledger technologies more accessible to a mainstream audience.

The IATBA was announced last November at the EU Blockchain Industry Roundtable.

Meet Pantheon 1.0

According to information shared with ETHNews, ConsenSys protocol engineering spoke PegaSys today announced the release of Pantheon 1.0, an Ethereum client “built specifically with enterprise requirements in mind.” The client enables parties to create private blockchain networks.

Some of Pantheon’s enterprise-grade features include the ability to whitelist nodes and accounts, APIs for granting permissions, and a faster consensus mechanism called Istanbul Byzantine Fault Tolerance 2.0. Further, Pantheon was developed to work with common Ethereum tools like Truffle, Nethereum, and Alethio. Indeed, PegaSys sees “[t]he long-term value of enterprise Ethereum” as being “interoperability with the public mainnet.”

Pantheon’s next release, 1.1 – which is slated for launch on April 30 – will focus on transaction privacy features.

An EIP for App Keys

The MetaMask team recently proposed an EIP to introduce app keys, a new type of wallet account that would be derived for each application a user interacted with. This new mechanism would reportedly enable more privacy and security, as accounts would be isolated for each app.

Further, these app keys would allow application developers to have more control over account management. MetaMask hopes its EIP can lead to a standard appropriate for both wallets and application developers.
