Fairshake, a Super PAC heavily backed by the crypto industry, transferred over $24 million to its affiliate Defend American Jobs in September. That same month, Defend American Jobs spent roughly $24 million on the Ohio Senate race, with approximately $18.6 million supporting Republican incumbent Jon Husted and an additional $5.7 million opposing Democratic candidate Sherrod Brown.
The group has continued spending in October, directing more funds against Brown and supporting Husted while also targeting independent candidate Dan Osborn in Nebraska. Brown has previously opposed the crypto industry, calling digital assets “speculative products run by reckless companies … that put Americans’ hard-earned money at risk.” Husted, by contrast, was a vocal supporter of the Clarity Act, a pro-crypto regulatory framework.
In total, Defend American Jobs has spent more than $46 million in the Ohio Senate race this cycle, already surpassing the $40 million it used to back Bernie Moreno in 2024. The Digital Freedom Fund, which draws most of its support from Winklevoss Capital Fund, has spent an additional $5.9 million in the race, supporting Husted and opposing Brown.
