BlackRock unveiled two blockchain-based money market funds (MMFs), BSTBL and BRSRV, on the Ethereum network on August 3, 2026, as reported by Watcher.Guru. These funds aim to preserve liquidity and principal stability by investing in cash, short-term US Treasuries, and ultrashort repurchase agreements.
Consequently, the launch expands BlackRock’s stablecoin reserves and provides new infrastructure for digital asset markets. “Cash remains a foundational building block for investors, corporations, and financial institutions,” said Jon Steel, Global Head of Product and Platform for BlackRock’s Cash Management business.
“U.S. money market funds have grown to more than $8.4 trillion in assets as investors continue to prioritize liquidity, capital preservation, and the potential for yield,” Steel added. He noted that demand is rising for high-quality reserve assets to support stablecoins and other tokenized financial products.
Meanwhile, the broader US money market fund market now exceeds $8.4 trillion in total assets. BlackRock’s cash management group manages about $1.1 trillion for companies, banks, insurers, and public funds.
The tokenized funds give clients additional choices for accessing money market solutions across traditional and digital markets. This move positions BlackRock to address growing institutional interest in blockchain-based financial instruments.
