Bitcoin Struggles as Musk Prediction Looms, Fed Meeting Awaited

Bitcoin rebounds 15% from $57K low, Fed uncertainty looms large.

  • Bitcoin has rebounded nearly 15% from recent lows of $57,000, though it remains far below its October 2025 peak of $126,000.
  • The Federal Reserve’s upcoming interest rate decision under Chair Kevin Warsh is described as “one of the most uncertain in years,” with the market split 70/30 on a rate hold versus a hike.
  • Analysts note bitcoin has outperformed U.S. equities in July, rising 6% versus a flat S&P 500 and a nearly 20% drop in semiconductor stocks.
  • Market observers warn the Fed may strike a hawkish note even without a rate hike, while some traders expect bitcoin to finish the year near current levels absent major catalysts.

Bitcoin has climbed roughly 15% since plunging to $57,000 in recent weeks, yet the asset remains well below its October 2025 peak of $126,000 as the market braces for the Federal Reserve’s next move. According to analysts, the meeting led by Fed Chair Kevin Warsh is described as “one of the most uncertain in years.”

The market is currently split roughly 70/30 on whether Fed officials will hold or hike rates, with looser monetary policy typically providing a tailwind for risk assets like bitcoin. Thahbib Rahman, research analyst at Block Scholes, noted bitcoin “has quietly rebounded through the month and outperformed U.S. equities.”

Meanwhile, bitcoin rose 6% in July versus a flat S&P 500 and a nearly 20% decline in semiconductor stocks over the same period. However, some market watchers expect the Fed to sound hawkish regardless of the rate decision, with Ebury head of market strategy Matthew Ryan stating the Fed “will have no choice but to strike a hawkish note on Wednesday.”

For now, many traders appear content with bitcoin remaining flat as long as another major decline does not materialize. Koinly chief executive Robin Singh warned that “bitcoin needs fresh catalysts to reignite investor interest,” noting that AI continues to capture a larger share of investor attention and capital. Singh added that while $100,000 felt like a “boring” price just a year ago, it now “almost feels like an unrealistic target in the near term.”
