- CoinCodex’s algorithmic model predicts Amazon stock could hit $1,000 by 2036, far above the Wall Street average target of $332.45.
- The bold forecast depends on sustained AWS growth and AI monetization, fueled by a planned $220 billion in cash CapEx for 2026.
- While shares currently trade near $249.67, the 300% gain requires roughly 12% to 15% annual compounding over a decade.
- Amazon’s doubled long-term debt and recent public caution from AI leaders on model development pose significant risks to the timeline.
CoinCodex’s algorithmic forecasting model predicts Amazon stock could hit $1,000 by 2036, with shares trading near $249.67. Wall Street’s average 12-month target among analysts is just $332.45.
The gap highlights why this is a decade-long story about AWS growth, not a single earnings cycle. Amazon reported Q2 AWS revenue of $42.2 billion, up 37% year on year.
Andy Jassy, President and CEO, directly addressed the spending on the Q2 call. “We now believe we will spend approximately $220 billion in cash CapEx in 2026,” he stated.
Brian Olsavsky, Senior Vice President and CFO, pointed to margin strength as proof the investment is paying off. “You’re seeing, despite the large investments, AWS margins have continued to remain strong, and we’re up 650 basis points year-over-year,” he noted.
Turning this growth into a four-times stock move requires sustained monetization of Amazon‘s $190.4 billion stake in Anthropic. Consequently, consensus targets for 2030 still cluster between $430 and $650.
However, long-term debt has doubled to $128.9 billion to fund the building. Meanwhile, the chief executives of Anthropic, OpenAI, and xAI backed slowing frontier-model development, a move that could slow the exact AI spending the forecast depends on.
