  • Aeva‘s FMCW 4D LiDAR was selected for NVIDIA‘s Hyperion autonomous vehicle platform.
  • The sensor adds 3D point data plus a per-point instant-velocity measurement to Hyperion’s perception stack.
  • The integration targets production vehicle programs planned around 2028, expanding Aeva’s role with global automakers.
  • Aeva shares rose more than 27% in after-hours trading after the announcement, following a strong 2025 performance.

Aeva said its frequency-modulated continuous-wave (FMCW) 4D LiDAR has been chosen for Nvidia‘s Hyperion autonomous vehicle reference platform, an announcement made at CES 2026. The companies will work to integrate Aeva’s sensor into Hyperion to support production vehicle programs targeted for 2028. The sensor adds 3D sensing and a unique per-point, instant-velocity measurement to Hyperion’s perception stack.

The additional velocity data aims to improve detection confidence, tracking stability, and long-range performance in day and night conditions. Hyperion combines data from cameras, radar, and LiDAR with Nvidia Drive AGX Thor and DriveOS to enable Level 3 and Level 4 automated driving features. Automakers that adopt Nvidia’s architecture can use Hyperion as a production blueprint.

The announcement followed a strong year for Aeva, which surged about 180% in 2025 on improved revenue and profit and the launch of new 4D LiDAR products. The company also received an investment from Apollo late last year. After the selection for Hyperion, Aeva shares jumped more than 27% in after-hours trading.

Retail investor activity rose sharply after the news. Data shows sentiment on Stocktwits moved from bearish to “extremely bullish” in a day, with message volume up about 400% and user count up over 25% over the same period. Over the last 12 months, Aeva stock has increased roughly 157%.
