Bitcoin (BTC) last traded above the $100k price level in November 2025. The asset had climbed to an all-time high of $126,080 in October of last year before entering a bearish phase. Investors began exiting the cryptocurrency market in late 2025 after increased macroeconomic uncertainty and geopolitical tensions. Historical data shows BTC hits new peaks in 2017, 2021, and 2025, suggesting a possible new high by 2029. The journey could start much sooner, however, with BTC potentially hitting $100k as market conditions shift.
The first sign of a recovery would be an increase in ETF inflows. These products played a vital role in BTC hitting its peak in 2025. ETF inflows have been sporadic recently but will likely see steady inflows before BTC reclaims $100k. A second sign could be a dip in gold prices, as investors often choose BTC when risk appetite increases. Such conditions typically arise when safe-haven assets like gold decline. The third sign would be a dip in interest rates, which have not changed this year. Lower rates are crucial for encouraging risk-taking, though inflation remains above the Federal Reserve’s 2% target.
