- X (formerly Twitter) awarded its $1 million Creators competition prize last week to user “@beaverd” for a highly viewed article.
- Bubblemaps alleges the winner is a “serial rugger” who profited ~$600k from memecoin pump-and-dump schemes.
- The winner’s token, somaliscan, plunged 86% after the prize announcement, according to CoinGecko data.
- Beaverd replied to the allegations by suggesting their unidentified schemes were even more lucrative.
Last week, social media platform X awarded a $1 million grand prize in its Creators competition to user “@beaverd” for their viral article. However, crypto analytics firm Bubblemaps has since exposed the winner as an alleged serial cryptocurrency scammer.
An investigation claims beaverd, a self-described “web3 native,” made approximately $600,000 from memecoin pump and dumps. According to the findings, one connected address was linked to the deployer of the SIAS token, which allegedly surged and crashed within minutes.
Consequently, Bubblemaps identified dozens of other failed memecoins connected to the winner. These tokens, with names like PISS and RACISM, reportedly “went to zero” after launch.
Beaverd replied to the thread with apparent indifference. “cry me a river, also these arent even the top 5 greatest hits,” they wrote, seemingly confirming larger, undisclosed schemes.
Meanwhile, the winning article criticized government consulting giant Deloitte for wasteful spending. Beaverd also promotes the memecoin somaliscan, which is down 86% from its peak, data shows.
