- Tesla is reportedly quoting $290,000 for its 500-mile Long Range Tesla Semi, a substantial increase from its 2017 unveiling price of $180,000.
- The new price, however, remains below the 2024 industry average of around $435,000 for a class 8 electric truck.
- Final specifications for the truck, set for volume production this year, confirm two trims offering 325 and 500 miles of range, with fast-charging capability.
- Retail sentiment on Stocktwits for Tesla’s stock shifted from ‘bearish’ to ‘neutral’ amid the pricing news.
Electric vehicle giant Tesla Inc. is now quoting customers $290,000 for the 500-mile version of its long-awaited Semi truck, according to a report from Electrek. This figure represents a significant price hike from the $180,000 projected for that model when the vehicle was first unveiled back in 2017. The new customer quote is for the Long Range version before destination fees and taxes.
Consequently, the standard range model promising 325 miles is listed at approximately $260,000. Tesla publicly released final specs this week, confirming both variants can recharge up to 60% of their range in 30 minutes. Simultaneously, retail investor sentiment on Stocktwits moved from bearish to neutral over a 24-hour period.
Despite the substantial increase from initial projections, the new price point remains competitive within its market segment. “Despite the fresh price point being significantly higher than prices announced at unveiling, it’s still below the industry average for a class 8 electric truck,” Electrek noted, referencing a 2024 average of $435,000. The Tesla Semi is slated to enter volume production later this year.
