The recent $10 million strategic sale of the S token to Galaxy is designed to strengthen Sonic’s position in the U.S. market, as well as offer greater support to its decentralized finance (DeFi) ecosystem. Sonic has appointed GSR as its official S market maker, a move expected to boost liquidity and fuel more growth within the platform.

Multiple updates have rolled out over the past few months. Native USDC and CCTP V2 have launched, bringing features like cross-chain transfers and access to institutional DeFi. Additionally, U.S. residents are now eligible for a 190.5 million S token airdrop, which is among the first of its kind to reach the U.S. legally.

Other recent changes include the listing of USDC on major CEXs, allowing users to deposit and withdraw in seconds. Sonic’s latest upgrade will bring account abstraction through EIP-7702—aimed at simplifying how users manage their crypto wallets.

Additional developments involve FeeM Vault, which redirects 90% of select contract fees to apps on the network, and new integrations with tools like Trust Wallet, Ledger.com/ledger-live-download?ref=blog.soniclabs.com”>Ledger Live, and Sonic ETL for improved access and analytics.

Further features include the launch of .sonic domains, WBTC whitelisting for program rewards, Game Gems to drive game activity and airdrop incentives, and a partnership with Chainwire for discounted PR distribution.

To round out the updates, whitelisted users can claim Sonic Shards NFTs, and highlights from the Sonic Summit 2025 in Vienna are now available on YouTube. Merchandise created in partnership with F1 driver Pierre Gasly is also now available, combining racing and blockchain branding.
