Robinhood Launches Micro Bitcoin, Solana, XRP Futures in the US

Robinhood Expands Crypto Trading with Micro Futures Contracts for Bitcoin, Solana, and XRP in the U.S.

  • Robinhood has launched micro futures contracts for Bitcoin, solana, and XRP in the United States.
  • These new contracts require less collateral, giving traders more flexibility with their capital.
  • Micro futures allow users to take positions on cryptocurrency price movements or hedge current holdings with smaller investments.
  • This offering expands on Robinhood’s existing crypto futures suite, which began with bitcoin and ether in January.
  • Robinhood‘s crypto trading notional volumes reached $11.7 billion in May, up 36% from the previous month and 65% year over year.

Robinhood has introduced micro futures contracts for bitcoin, solana, and XRP to U.S. traders. The contracts are now available to nearly 26 million funded accounts on the platform. This move expands the company’s digital asset trading options in the United States.

The micro futures contracts require significantly less capital to open a position compared to standard futures. This structure lets traders take bets on the direction of a cryptocurrency’s price or hedge other investments but with less financial exposure. According to the company, the smaller contract size has made it easier for more users to access futures trading.

These new micro contracts come as Robinhood finishes acquiring Bitstamp for $200 million and after closing a $179 million deal to purchase Canada’s WonderFi. The company first launched bitcoin and ether futures contracts in January and now offers a wider range including solana and XRP.

The company reported that crypto notional trading volumes have steadily risen. In May, the notional volume reached $11.7 billion—a 36% increase over April and a 65% gain from the same month last year. For more detailed figures, readers can review the company’s official data.

A micro futures contract is a smaller version of a regular futures contract, allowing investors to participate in price movements instead of buying the underlying asset. This can make risk management and diversified strategies accessible to a wider audience. The expansion of futures products follows an active period of acquisitions and growth for Robinhood in the digital asset sector.
