Ripple Donates $25M in Crypto to Support US Teachers, Education

Ripple Donates $25 Million to Support U.S. Educators Amid Nationwide Dissatisfaction With K-12 Education

  • Ripple donates $25 million in digital dollars to DonorsChoose and Teach For America to help U.S. educators.
  • The donation will be processed by The Giving Block, supporting classroom needs and teacher preparation programs.
  • Ripple’s pledge comes as more than half of U.S. parents and adults report dissatisfaction with K-12 education, according to a recent Gallup survey.

Ripple, a crypto services company based in the United States, has pledged $25 million in Ripple USD (RLUSD) to support education through the nonprofit organizations DonorsChoose and Teach For America.

The donation, announced on May 5, will be managed by the crypto-focused charity platform The Giving Block. According to DonorsChoose CEO Alix Guerrier, the funds are meant to help teachers who often use personal funds to pay for classroom resources.

Ripple cited a 2024 Gallup survey that found 55% of U.S. parents and adults are not satisfied with the quality of K-12 education in the country. “We hope to inspire others to do the same, starting with Teacher Appreciation Week, and leading into the rest of the year to support students and teachers with the resources they need to build a stronger future for themselves and their communities,” said Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse.

Teach For America CEO Aneesh Sohoni stated that the grant will help the group expand its Ignite Tutoring Fellows program, encourage innovation through its Reinvention Lab, and offer financial help to teacher candidates.

The crypto industry continues to play a growing role in charitable giving. The Giving Block predicts that digital asset donations could reach $2.5 billion in 2025. Last month, Binance co-founder Changpeng “CZ” Zhao donated over $500,000 in cryptocurrency to earthquake relief efforts in Thailand and Myanmar. In March, Blockchain For Impact pledged $90 million for biomedical research.

The new funding from Ripple is intended to provide practical support for educators facing financial gaps and to help improve educational outcomes for students across the United States.
